The police and the members of the Rapid Action Battalion on Wednesday arrested two more accused in Primeasia University student Jahidul Islam Parvez murder case at separate places in Gaibandha and Chattogram. 

The arrestees are Mehraj Islam, 20, Md Mahatir Hasan, 20. With this, a total of six accused were arrested in the case.


Banani police station officer-in-charge Md Rasel Sarwar said that the members of the Rapid Action Battalion arrested Mehraj at a location in Gainbandha and the police arrested Mahatir at a location in Chattogram.

Meanwhile, Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Md Chanaullah allowed the police to take another accused, Md Hridoy Miyaji, a leader of the Students Against Discrimination, in police custody for seven days for interrogation in the case.

Jahidul, an activist of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and a student of the university’s textile department, was stabbed to death during a clash with a group of fellow students and outsiders on the campus in the capital’s Banani area on April 19.

The victim’s cousin, Humayun Kabir, filed a case with the Banani police station on April 20, accusing 38 people, including two SAD leaders of killing Jahidul.

On April 21, Al Kamal Sheikh, Alvi Hasan Zunayed, and Al Amin Dani, all aged 19 to 20 years, were put on a seven-day remand in connection with the incident. They were arrested in the early hours of April 21.
