
At least nine people were killed in road accidents in Rangamati, Munshiganj and Patuakhali districts on Saturday.
Among them, six people were killed in Rangamati alone in a collision between a pickup and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Chattogram-Rangamati road in the Rubber Bagan area under Kawkhali upazila in the hill district in the morning.
Confirming the matter, Rangamati additional superintendent of police (Kaptai circle) Jahidul Islam said that the incident took place at about 10:30am.
Three of the deceased are Torab Ali, a resident of Raujan upazila in Chattogram, Mahmudur Rahman, of Hathazari upazila in Chattogram and Nur Nahar, of Kawkhali upazila in Rangamati district, Bangladesh Sangbad Sanstha reported.
Kawkhali police officer-in-charge Saiful Islam Shohag said that three auto-rickshaw passengers died on the spot and four others were injured.
The three injured died after reaching Raujan Upazila Health Complex, he said, adding that one injured was shifted to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.
BSS reported that two motorcyclists were killed after they were hit by a truck and an unidentified vehicle in separate incidents on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway at Srinagar in Munshiganj on the day.
The deceased are Faruk-uz-Zaman, 40, hailing from Shaltha area of Faridpur and Alimul, 27, of Kaunia area of Rangpur district.
Meanwhile, 抖阴精品 correspondent in Barishal reported that a seven-year-old child named Muhammad Jaber died in a road accident in Kalapara upazila under Patuakhali district.
The incident took place in the Pakhimara area on the Kalapara-Kuakata highway at about 2:00pm while he was on his way to visit his grandfather Faruk Hossain鈥檚 house in the Pakhimara area.
Jaber was seriously injured when a microbus hit him.
He was rushed to Kalapara Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Kalapara police OC Jewel Islam said that the body was sent to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
