
The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has formed an eight-member committee to investigate the power outages in 21 districts, including parts of Dhaka, Barishal, and Khulna divisions.
The ministry鈥檚 adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan came up with the information at a press briefing at the ministry.
He said the committee had been asked to submit its findings and recommendations within the next seven working days.
The committee is headed by Professor Abdul Hasib Chowdhury, pro-vice chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
Other members of the committee include Md Ehsan from BUET鈥檚 Department of Mechanical Engineering; Md Firoz Shah, additional divisional commissioner (revenue), Khulna Division; Md Shahidul Islam, member (P&D, additional responsibility), Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board; Md Abdul Majid, chief engineer (operation), West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited; Md Atikur Rahman, superintendent engineer, System Protection and Testing Commissioning Cell, BREB, Dhaka; Mohammad Fayzul Kabir, chief engineer (additional duty), Transmission-1, Power Grid Company of Bangladesh PLC; and Md Mazharul Islam, senior assistant secretary (Renewable Energy-1 Branch), Power Division.
The committee鈥檚 primary responsibilities are to identify the causes behind the grid failures, determine individual or organisational accountability, and recommend measures to prevent similar incidents in future.
