Abhani Limited pacers ran rampage with the ball to crush Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by ten wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday to finish the league stage of the ongoing Dhaka Premier League with 11 wins in 11 games.
Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam took four wickets while Taskin Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan Sakib claimed two and one each to bowl out Sk Jamal for just 88 in 22.4 overs, which they chased down in 10.2 overs courtesy of Mohammad Naim鈥檚 unbeaten 53 off 40 and Anamul Haque鈥檚 not-out 22-ball 37.
Shykat Ali was the top scorer for Sk Jamal with 23 while none of the other batters managed to go reach the 20-run mark.聽
The victory ensured a massive advantage for Abahani ahead of the Super League phase since they are holding the top spot in the table with 22 points following the round-robin league stage.聽
Other than them, Sk Jamal and Shinepukur finished with eight wins from 11 matches, while Mohammedan Sporting Club, who will play their last game today, could join these two teams in securing eight wins before the Super League.
Opting to bowl first, Abahani seamers made the life of Sk Jamal batters tough as they failed to share even a twenty-run stand for any wicket. Only an eighteen-run partnership was seen between Shykat and Fazle Mahmud before the latter was bowled by Taskin Ahmed on 4.
However, the havoc was started by Shoriful, who got Saif Hassan for 16 before dismissing Robiul Islam for four, which reduced Sk Jamal to 32-2 in 7 overs.
Sakib and Taskin then joined the party to remove Shykat, Fazle Mahmud, and Nurul Hasan Sohan (1) to demolish the middle order, leaving Sk Jamal reeling at 57-5.
The rest was done by Shorful, Tanvir Islam, and Mosaddek Hossain, to bowl their opposition out for sub-100 total.聽
