
Centuries from Murshida Khatun and Sobhana Mostary saw Mohammedan Sporting Club make history in the Dhaka Premier Division Womens Cricket League 2023-24 against Gulshan Youth Club on Thursday as they posted 392-3 – the highest-ever total in women’s cricket in the country – on their way to a massive 251-run win.
They broke the record of 321 runs set by BKSP in the previous season.
Murshida carried the bat for Mohammedan as she stayed unbeaten on 179 off 157 balls – the highest individual score in women’s DPL history – hitting 23 fours and two sixes.
Sobhana – the other centurion – scored 128 off 101 balls including six fours and seven sixes.
Besides them, opener Jasia Akhtar produced a blistering 75-run knock off just 41 balls, scoring 11 fours and four sixes as she added 135 runs for the opening wicket with Murshida.
Murshida then took on the onus with Mostary by her side, adding 257 runs for the second wicket as they took down the record and set a new one, before the latter fell in the penultimate delivery.
In reply, Gulshan Youth Club were bowled out for just 141 as Rumana Ahmed took three wickets while Salma Khatun, Fariha Trishna, and Sabekun Nahar picked up two each.
