Pacer Marufa Akter鈥檚 hat trick on Sunday went in vain as her side Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan suffered a 72-run defeat to Mohammedan Sporting Club in the ongoing edition of the Women鈥檚 Dhaka Premier League at the BKSP Ground 4 on Sunday.
Marufa鈥檚 4-43 saw Mohameddan end on 228-9聽but聽BKSP batters failed to reach the total as they were bowled out for 156 in 42.2 overs, with the highest 39 coming from opener Fahmida Choya.
Mohammedan鈥檚 Sobhana Mostary scored the highest 64, while with the ball, Fariha Trishna was the standout bowler with 3-25.
Marufa struck at the beginning of Mohammedan鈥檚 inning after BKSP opted to bowl first. She nicked opener Jasia Akhtar for a duck. Then, banking on 46, 35, and 32 from Murshida Khatun, Sobhana Mostary, and Ayesha Rahman, respectively, Mohammedan surpassed the 200-run mark.
However, their run-scoring was abruptly halted by Marufa as she picked up all of Sabekun Nahar, Sultana Yasmin Boishakhi, and Fariha Trishna for a duck in three consecutive deliveries in the final over, which saw her pick up the first hat-trick of this season.
