Bangladesh national cricket team’s first official warm-up game of the 2024 T20 World Cup against USA was cancelled due to adverse weather in Texas.

The match, scheduled to begin at 9:30pm Bangladesh time, was abandoned an hour-and-a-half before the start as the stadium – Grand Prairie View in Houston, Texas – suffered some serious damage due to inclement conditions.

‘This is to confirm that the warm up match between Bangladesh and the USA at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas today has been cancelled due to the conditions of the facilities following the adverse weather that has affected the area,’ a statement from the Bangladesh Cricket Board informed.

According to reports from Houston, a thunderstorm with strong winds went through Houston on Tuesday morning, resulting in the stadium facilities suffering from damage. One of those damages was a temporary giant screen, placed for the World Cup matches, being destroyed.

Bangladesh will play their second and final warm-up game against India on June 1, before their first group stage game in the World Cup against Sri Lanka on June 8.
