Bangladesh A team made a poor start to the three-match one-day series against Pakistan Shaheens (Pakistan A) as they suffered an eight-wicket defeat in the first match at the Islamabad Club ground on Monday.
The second string Bangladesh team鈥檚 defeat came a day after the Bangladesh national cricket team鈥檚 historical 10-wicket win in the first Test against Pakistan at Rawalpindi on Sunday.
However, put into bat first, Bangladesh A were able to amass just 183 before being all out in 36 overs, a target that Shaheens overhauled in 27.5 overs, reaching 184-2.
Pacer Abbas Afridi wrecked havoc on Bangladesh A, claiming 5-38. He was ably supported by Jahandad Khan and Mehran Mumtaz, who both scalped two wickets each.
Saif Hassan was the top-scorer for Bangladesh A with 58 off 47 balls, an innings studded with 10 fours and one six.
He was the only top order batter who could make some resistance amid Abbas Afridi鈥檚 carnage.
Number nine batter Rishad Hossain struck 37 ball-40 to give Bangladesh A鈥檚 total some respectability.
Opener Hasibullah Khan gave Pakistan Shaheens a good start and remained not out on 73 off 81.
But the damage was done by Usman Khan, who blasted 60 ball-87 by smashing eight fours and five sixes.
The second one-day game between the two sides is on Wednesday. Earlier, the two-match four-day series was drawn.
