Bangladesh are eager to make a strong comeback against the West Indies in their next ICC Women’s T20 World Cup match to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

Bangladesh began their campaign with a win against newcomers Scotland in their first match to finally secure a win in the tournament after a decade, then slipped to a 21-run defeat in their second against 2009 champions England.

Spinners have been the main driving force for Bangladesh as the batting unit struggled in both of the last encounters.

All-rounder Rabeya Khan expressed enthusiasm that the spinners would carry the same momentum against the Caribbean.

‘It was disappointing to lose the match [England], given the opportunity. We still have two more matches, and we are confident in our ability to win. We will play for the win,’ Rabeya said in a video message provided by the BCB on Monday.

‘Our bowling unit is performing well. Hopefully, we will continue that spirit. We believe that we can beat the West Indies and make a strong comeback.’

Nahida Akter, the first women cricketer to pick 100 T20I wickets for the country, stated a victory against the West Indies will be essential to securing their semi-final berth.

‘Next two matches are very important to us. It will be easier for us to reach the semi-finals, if we can beat the West Indies. We will play for the win, and we will do whatever it takes to secure that,’ said Nahida.

Bangladesh spin-bowling coach Dinuka Hettiarachchi was confident that spinners would continue their rich vein of form.

‘We need to win these two games. I have confidence because they are doing well, and we have to continue to do the same in the final two games.’ said Hettiarachchi.

‘All the spinners are doing good. I think we have the best spinners in the world. It depends on how the wickets are,’ he added.

Bangladesh will face the West Indies on October 10 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, before they take on South Africa in Dubai on October 12.
