Bangladesh are in a must-win situation to keep their semi-final hopes alive when they take on the West Indies in their third Group B match of the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Sharjah today.

The match will begin at 8:00pm Bangladesh Standard Time, and Nagorik TV will televise the game live.

Nigar Sultana Joty-led side went into this edition’s World Cup with two objectives.

The first was to end their winless streak in the competition in a decade, while the second one was to qualify to the last four of the competition.

They did their first job by beating newcomers Scotland by 16 runs before they lost to England by 21 runs, despite restricting them to below 120 runs in their second match.

With two points under their belt, Bangladesh will be desperate for a win against the Caribbean’s before they finish their group phase against South Africa in Dubai on Saturday.

Left-arm spinner Nahida Akter believes a victory against the 2016 champions is a must.

‘It will be easier for us to reach the semi-finals if we can beat the West Indies. We will play for the win, and will do whatever it takes to secure that,’ said Nahida on Tuesday.

Bangladesh are currently in fourth place with three points in the table, with one win and a loss from two matches.

On the other hand, the West Indies are also in a synonymous situation, with one win and a loss as the side occupies third place with a better run rate.

While South Africa and England hold the top two positions in the points table, with four points each.

Group A is comprised of Australia, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand.

Top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.Â
