Tanzid Hasan hit a cracking hundred as Rajshahi were in a commanding position against Khulna on the opening day of the 26th National Cricket League at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on Saturday.

Rajshahi scored 385-4 as Tanzid hit 141 off just 133 balls, with Farhad Hossain and Shakhir Hossain remaining unbeaten on 91 and 61 runs, respectively, at the end of the first day.

Put into bat first, Rajshahi lost two wickets within 12 overs, but left-hander Tanzid got to a quick start and reached his fifty off just 40 balls.

He carried in that fashion and brought a 105-run partnership in the third wicket with Pritam Kumar, who scored 46 off 62.

Tanzid reached his hundred with a lob off Mahadi Hasan in just 101 balls before being bounced out by Abdul Halim on 141. The 23-year-old hit 19 fours and four sixes.

Rajshahi crossed 250 well before the 50th over. Farhad and Shakhir then took their time, but Khulna, who used seven bowlers, failed to break the partnership.

Farhad took 115 balls to reach his fifty, while Shakhir played 108 balls to reach the milestone.

Mahadi for Khulna took two wickets while giving away 107 runs from 25 overs.

Though a full 90-over quota was played in this match, only 44 overs were possible in the adjacent Academy ground, where Dhaka Metro put up 101-1 against Barishal.

Play started at 1.32pm due to wet outfield.

Imranuzzaman and Anisul Islam put on a 50-run opening partnership before Anisul (36) was bowled by Ruyel Miah.

Eighteen were bowled before play was called off due to bad light. Imranuzzamn remained unbeaten on 35 as Aich Mollah was not out on 26.
