Khulna secured their first victory in the National Cricket League, defeating Dhaka Metro by nine wickets in their third-round match at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

After being enforced follow-on, Metro made 372 in their second innings, setting a target of 206, following a superb 152 from Marshal Ayub and Aminul Islam Biplob’s 73 runs.


Off-spinner Mahedi Hasan took 5-62 in the first and 5-88 in the second to claim a 10-wicket haul in the match for Khulna.

Chasing the target, first innings’ centurion Anamul Haque Bijoy played a blistering knock of 71 off 47, featuring 10 boundaries and two sixes.

Imrul Kayes made 80 off 93 deliveries, and Amit Majumder scored an unbeaten 41 to guide Khulna to victory.

Earlier, Metro were dismissed for 210 in their first innings in response to Khulna’s 376.

Sylhet won the low-scoring encounter against Rangpur by four wickets at the Shahid Chandu Stadium in Bogra.

Rejaur Rahman Raja scored the highest 59 off 117 balls, complimented by Amite Hasan (37) and Pinak Ghosh (42) in their chase of a 190-run target after dismissing Rangpur for 220 in the second innings.

Mukidul Islam Mugdho grabbed 3-55 for Rangpur.

Earlier, Sylhet scored 189 in reply to Rangpur’s 158 in their first innings.

At the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium, Barishal captain Sunzamul (6-40) and Walid (3-48) played key roles in their six-wicket win against Rajshahi. 

Starting the day with a deficit of 60 runs, Barishal managed to post 137 in the second innings, as they managed a paltry 68-run target. 

Then Meherob Hasan (23) and opener Habibur Rahman (17) took the side off the mark.

The match between Dhaka Division and Chattogram at Cox’s Bazar Academy Ground ended in an expected draw.

Dhaka put on 401 in the first innings with Mahidul Islam Ankon’s 99 in response to Chattogram’s 371. 

In the second innings, Chattogram reached 124-4 before the bails were drawn.

Sylhet Divison holds the top spot in the points table after securing two wins and a draw, followed by Metro and Khulna.
