
Former Bangladesh opener Imrul Kayes announced his retirement from Test cricket as well as first-class cricket on Wednesday.
However, the 37-year-old left-handed batter will continue playing in ODI and T20 formats.
‘Ending my Test Career, Thank you, to all my fans for showing their love and support always,’ Imrul said in a video message on his Facebook page.
Imrul has been away from the Test fold since his last Test against India in 2019. He made his debut against South Africa in 2008.Ìý
In his international Test career, he played 39 matches, scoring 1,797 runs at an average of 24.28, including three centuries.Ìý
The southpaw formed many memorable partnerships with veteran Tamim Iqbal, including a record-opening partnership of 312 runs against Pakistan in 2015.
He will sign off from first-class cricket with a match for Khulna Division, starting on November 16.
Imrul represented Khulna in 137 first-class matches, scoring 7,930 runs with 20 centuries and 27 half-centuries.
