
Rangpur and Under-19 World Cup-winning captain Akbar Ali has been suspended for two matches for breaching the code of conduct in the fifth round of the ongoing National Cricket League.聽
As a result, Akbar will miss the remaining two matches of Rangpur this season.聽
The 23-year-old has also been penalised with a fine of 95 per cent of his match fee. Akhtar Ahmad Shipar was the match referee.聽
According to a source, Akbar misbehaved with the umpire during the match against Barishal at the Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi that concluded on November 19 on multiple occasions.聽
He also had an outburst following his return to the dressing room, where he hit a chair. Overall, Akbar received five demerit points, which led to two match suspensions.聽
Akbar scored 21 runs in the drawn match as well as took two wickets in the second innings despite playing the match as the recognised wicketkeeper.聽
Rangpur (21 points) are currently in second in the points table, with Sylhet (29) at the top.聽
Rangpur will face Dhaka Metro on November 23 at Cox鈥檚 Bazar and Khulna in Khulna on November 30.聽
