
The Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis imposed a one-year ban on eight cricketers and a team official due to ‘serious violations’ of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Code of Conduct during the Meghna Bank Dhaka Third Division Cricket League.
Besides, each of the players and the official were also penalised with a fine of Tk 50,000, as the BCB confirmed in a media release on Friday.
‘After careful deliberation, the CCDM has imposed a one-year ban on all nine individuals from participating in BCB competitions’, stated the release.
Tejgaon Cricket Academy players Yeasin Arafat, Md Rifat Al Emon (Anik), Tasin Ahmed Ronobi, Md Rabbi Hasan, Md Parvez Ahmed Joy, official Robin, and Sapphire Sporting Club’s Md Rana Khan, Saiful Islam Shawon, and Md Hridoy were found guilty of violating BCB’s Code of Conduct under Article 2.19.
The incident was occurred on November 18 when both team players engaged in an altercation during the Super League game between Tejgaon Cricket Academy and Sapphire Sporting Club at the PKSP Ground 1.
BCB President Faruque Ahmed reiterated the BCB’s position on the acts that break the Code of Conduct.
‘The BCB will not be lenient on disciplinary issues at any level of domestic competitions,’ Faruque stated in media release.
‘Let this be a message to all players and officials that the board will strictly deal with breaches of the Code of Conduct,’ he added.
