Nic Pothas has resigned from his position as the Bangladesh national cricket team’s assistant coach without finishing his contract ahead of the Champions Trophy.

The South African confirmed his resignation through a social media post on Thursday.

The former West Indies and Sri Lanka head coach joined the Tigers in April 2023 with a two-year contract. Later it was extended to 2026.

‘Like all good things, this too must come to an end,’ said Pothas in a social media post. ‘I’ve had an amazing time with some great people while with @bcb_tigers_official. We’ve broken many records along the way, made history, and created amazing memories.’

‘Now it’s time to spend some quality time at home and see what the next chapter holds. I wish everyone at Bangladesh Cricket the very best for an exciting year ahead. I’ll miss you,’ Pothas added.

Recently, the BCB appointed Mohammad Salahuddin as senior assistant coach. Salahuddin also served as batting coach during Bangladesh’s tour of the West Indies.

It was reported that Pothas was serving as the fielding coach of Bangladesh before his resignation.Â
