Legends of Rupganj on Saturday have roped in ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for the forthcoming Dhaka Premier League, starting next month.
However, his participation remains uncertain, given the current political atmosphere.
Shakib, an ex-lawmaker of the Awami League, was barred from returning to the country following the fall of the dissolved government.
The former Bangladesh captain, who announced his retirement from T20I format in September, had expressed his desire to quit from Tests with a home series against South Africa in October last year.
But due to the political shift, he was unable to return to the country.
Despite, getting picked by the Chittagong Kings for the Bangladesh Premier League, Shakib could not feature in the tournament.
Amid all these challenges, Rupganj signed him during the two-day DPL player transfer window on February 22 and 23.
Rupganj鈥檚 squad also includes national team players like Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Jaker Ali Anik, and Tanzim Hasan while Akbar Ali appointed as captain.
Meanwhile, Shakib is currently observing a bowling suspension due to illegal action. His bowling action came under scrutiny by umpires during his short stint with Surrey in County.
Despite undergoing two assessments, Shakib failed to clear the tests, leading to his exclusion from Bangladesh鈥檚 Champions Trophy squad as he could only be considered as a batter.
