
Captain Nigar Sultana Joty scored 80 while Jannatul Sumona claimed five wickets as Sheltech Cricket Academy strengthened their top spot in the Dhaka Premier Division Women鈥檚 Cricket League with a 64-run win against Gulshan Youth Club at the Bashundhara Sports Complex on Tuesday.
Opting to bat first, openers Ishma Tanjim (29) and Sarmin Sultana (27) started well for Sheltech. Joty, who struck nine fours, held the innings together in the middle as they reached a fighting total of 194-8 in 50 overs.
In reply, Juairiya Ferdous (56) then got Gulshan to a commanding position after losing Aka Mollick early.
But Jannatul spun a web into their innings as Gulshan became 71-1 to 139-9 in the space of 20.2 overs.
Suraya Azmim was absent hurt, meaning Sheltech won by a hefty margin.
In the other match of the day, Bangladesh Ansar & VDP won by 65 runs against Bangladesh Police Cricket Club at the BKSP-1 in a much similar fashion to Sheltech.
Choosing to bat first, Ansar scored 199-8 in the allotted overs thanks to contributions from Nasima Khatun (43), Aysa Akter Jr (39), and Arbin Tani (37).
Lamiya Mreda and Dipa Khatun took two wickets each for Police.
In reply, Police lost their first five wickets for just 37 runs. Shibani Rani fought with her 44-run innings but lacked support from the other end.
Captain Tithi Rani Sarker took three for Ansar, while Lily Rani Biswas and Afrin Mim took two wickets apiece.
