Shamim Mia and Tofael Ahmed shone with the ball, and then Anamul Haque and Sadikur Rahman鈥檚 quickfire fifties helped Gazi Group Cricketers to beat Shinepukur Cricket Club by eight wickets in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at the BKSP-3 on Thursday.

Shinepukur only managed to score 161 in 45.2 overs after being asked to bat first. They struggled to build a partnership as their top score of 46 came from the number eight batter Zubaer Hossain.

Five of the seven bowlers used by Gazi Group were among the wickets as Shamim and Tofael took three wickets each.

Gazi Group then got off to a flying start as the opening partnership yielded 92 runs in just nine overs. Sadikur (50 off 30) reached his fifty in just 29 balls, while Anamul (52 off 27) needed just 26 balls.

Both were dismissed in the space of three balls, but Salman Hossain and Shamsur Rahman got them home in just 17.5 overs.

In another match, Marshall Ayub got Agrani Bank Cricket Club home in a nervy chase against Dhanmondi Sports Club as they won by five wickets at the BKSP-4.

Dhanmondi were all out for just 115 in 33.5 overs after losing the toss. Their highest partnership of 44 runs came for the sixth wicket between captain Nurul Hasan and Moin Khan. Robiul Haque took 4-14.

Agrani Bank then became 26-3 in the 11th over. Marshall then hit 51 off 92 and remained unbeaten when they sealed the victory in 38.5 overs.

A collective effort brought Gulshan Cricket Club their second win of the season at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium against Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club in the day鈥檚 other match.

Tigers were restricted to 228-9, which Gulshan chased down in 46.5 overs with five wickets remaining.

Opener Amit Majmudar scored 88 while Ariful Haque made 40 at eight, but the Tigers were in a below-par total as no other substantial contributions came from others.

Asaduzzaman Payel took four while Nihad Uz Zaman grabbed three for Gulshan.

A 95-run opening partnership between Zawad Abrar (67 off 75) and captain Azizul Hakim (40 off 37) laid a perfect foundation for Gulshan in the run chase. Eventually they secured the win in 46.5 overs to keep the Tigers winless so far.
