A study unveiled on Tuesday projected that if the current trends of temperature hike persisted in the country, it could exceed 45 degree Celsius temperature by 2030.

The Environment and Social Development Organisation conducted the study between May and June this year, and unveiled the report at an event held at the auditorium of Women鈥檚 Voluntary Association in the capital.

For the temperature hike, the study blamed four factors that influenced temperature surge in Bangladesh. The factors are geological location in the tropical monsoon climate zone, climate change, carbon emission and oceanic influences.

Amid the intense heatwave in different parts of the country, it recorded the highest 43.8 degree Celsius temperature this year, the study pointed out.

The ESDO chairman and former secretary Syed Margub Morshed, executive director Siddika Sultana, secretary general Shahriar Hossain, executive member and Jahangirnagar University chemistry professor Abul Hashem and Dhaka University soil, water and environment department associate professor Mohammad Enayet Hossain spoke at the event.
