Environment, forest and climate change adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that no more building would be allowed to be constructed without accessibility to sunlight.

Speaking as chief guest at a discussion marking World Ozone Day, she also said that the building for the Department of Environment headquarters was constructed without sunlight accessibility that contributed to ozone layer distraction.

The DoE organised the discussion at its auditorium on Tuesday at its headquarters.

‘We will no more allow any building that disrupts sunlight accessibility, without using clay bricks,’ she said.

She emphasised the need for changing the narrative of development.

She said that people pushed the lives of their next generation towards more challenges by their activities that consumed more power.

She said that developed countries gave more attention to ozone as it harmed them and had taken steps to mitigate its impact but they did not give due attention to climatic changes.

Rizwana said that the scientists expected the ozone layer would be recorded by 2050 while climate effects were on the rise.

‘I will request the developed countries to give attention to climate actions,’ she added.

She warned that if the climate actions did not get proper attention, it would increase natural calamities.

Among others, secretary of the ministry Farhina Ahmed, DoE director general Abdul Hamid, director Ziaul Haque spoke at the event.
