Filmmaker and screenwriter Abu Tauhid Heron died at his apartment in New Eskaton area of Bangladesh capital Dhaka on Monday.  He was 38.

Tauhid made his directorial debut with his film titled ‘Adam’ in the past year.


General secretary of the Director’s Guild, Kamruzzaman Sagor, said that Tauhid passed away in the morning on Monday.

‘Abu Tauhid Heron was a young and dynamic filmmaker. We often shared our ideas about film, drama, and cultural issues. He was a member of Bangladesh Film Director’s Association,’ he said.

Tauhid used to live in the apartment alone, he said.

‘Today morning, he felt sick and informed the building’s caretaker. Later, colleagues and relatives rushed to his apartment and found him dead in his bedroom,’ he said.

He said that his body, as per request of his relatives, was sent to Dhaka Medical College for post-mortem examination.

After the postmortem, his body will be buried in his ancestral home at Khalishpur in Khulna city, said Kamruzzaman Sagor.

Abu Tauhid Heron has recently completed shooting of his another film titled ‘Wrong Road’. His debut film Adam was appreciated by film critics and audience.
