
Bangladeshi screenwriter and film critic Sadia Khalid Reeti participated in the 41st Tehran International Short Film Festival as a member of the jury.
The six-day Oscar-qualifying event concluded on October 23 at the Milad Tower Convention Centre in Tehran.
Apart from Sadia Khalid Reeti, the members of the jury included Indian music composer A R Rahman, Ghanian-Belgian director Anthony Nti, Italian filmmaker Maja Costa, and Russian festival producer Ekaterina Yakovleva, as well as Iranian filmmakers Ahmad Reza Motamedi and Masoud Madadi.
The festival was inaugurated on October 18 at Mellat Cineplex with a tribute to martyrs of Gaza.
‘I am honoured to be invited to this festival as a member of the jury. I hope we will see films from Bangladesh here in the years to come,’ Reeti said, adding that they have a lot to learn from Iran.
The TISFF has been held for 41 consecutive years in Iran, by the Iranian Youth Cinema Society – one of the most renowned schools of cinema and short film production in Iran and throughout the world.
A total number of 107 short films competed for top awards.
The line-up included 59 short fiction films, 21 animated movies, 18 documentaries, and nine experimental films. AI and VR sections were added this year.
In the international section, the Golden Leaf for the best film, the grand prize of the festival, was presented to ‘A Short Film about Kids’ by Ibrahim Handal from Palestine.
Over 13000 entries from 150 countries were received in this edition of this prestigious, oldest short film festival in the region.
