A three-day international documentary film festival, jointly organised by Russian House in Dhaka and RT Documentary, began on Tuesday at Russian House in Dhaka. 

The festival titled RT Doc: Time of Our Heroes aimed to raise awareness about ongoing genocide by Ukraine against the Russian-speaking population in the Donetsk and Lugansk republics, collectively known as Donbass.


Donbass declared independence from Kiev in 2014.

The festival features six documentary films including Young Guard Reborn, We Are Russia, Donbass Volunteers- United Strength, Donbass- Echoes of War, St. Basil’s: An Icon of Russia and Donbass: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.

‘The festival is dedicated to the heroes who are fighting in the Donbas region for rights of the Russians to preserve their national identity,’ said editor of RT Documentary Ekaterina Shubnaya.

The festival began with Tatyana Borsh directed film titled Donbass: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow .

Two other films, Young Guard Reborn and St. Basil’s: An Icon of Russia directed by Ekaterina Kitaiseva and Dmitry Khrustalev respectively, were also screened. 

The festival will also feature a master class conducted by Ekaterina Shubnaya on Wednesday and Thursday.

Students of State University of Bangladesh and Daffodil International University will participate in the event.
