Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan-starrer ‘Borbaad’ has been leading the Eid films since its release on Monday, said film industry insiders on Wednesday.

‘Borbaad’ has been running houseful, ‘Daagi’ and ‘Jongli’ gaining ground and the rest are struggling due to lack of time slots offered by cinemas across the country, they said.

‘Borbaad’ directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, ‘Daagi’ by Shihab Shahin, ‘Jongli’ by Jaber Ahmed Shakil, ‘Chokkor 302’ by Sharaf Ahmed Jibon, ‘Antaratma’ by Wajed Ali Sumon and ‘Jinn 3’ by Kamruzzaman Roman have been released targeting Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

Bangladesh Film Exhibitors’ Association senior vice-president Mia Alauddin said on Wednesday that most of the single screens were captured by ‘Borbaad’ and the audience reviews on the film were extremely good.

‘Initially Borbaad was being screened at 120 cinemas, but after the opening day many cinemas increased the shows of Borbaad,’ said Alauddin.

Single-screen Madhumita Cinema Hall owner Iftekhar Uddin Nawshad said that every day they ran shows of ‘Borbaad’ and almost all shows of the film were houseful after its release.

‘We are happy to see the audience collecting tickets standing in long queues, especially for evening and night shows. We hope more audiences will come next weekend,’ said Nawshad.

Mehedi Hassan Hridoy, director of ‘Borbaad’, in a Facebook post said that 44 shows were held at Star Cineplex while nine shows each in Jamuna Blockbuster and Lion Cinemas on Wednesday.
