Mohammedan Sporting Club came from behind to reach the semi-finals of the Federation Cup with a 2-2 win over Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra in the first quarter-final at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Tuesday.

Sk Russel grabbed a first-minute lead as Guinean attacker Sekou Sylla headed home a free kick from defender Monir Alam.

It took 71 minutes for defending champions Mohammedan to level the score, thanks to Uzbekistani midfielder Muzaffar Muzaffarov.

Malian striker Souleyemane Diabate found him in a tough position inside the box and passed the ball to Muzaffar, who struck a powerful shot past Sk Russel goalkeeper Mitul Marma.

Super-sub Mohammedan鈥檚 Jafar Iqbal scored the match-winning goal in the first minute of stoppage time.

On April 16, Bashundhara Kings and Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society will face off in the second quarter-final of the 10-team tournament at the same venue.
