
Police Football Club booked their place in the semi-finals of the Federation Cup for the first time in its history with a 3-0 win over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the third quarter-final at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Tuesday.
The services team, who made their maiden appearance in this tournament in 2019-2020, will take on defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club in the first semi-final of the 10-team tournament in Munshiganj on May 7.
In the day鈥檚 play, Uzbekistan duo Javokhir Sokhivob and Azamat Abdullaev scored once each, while the other goal came from an own goal for Police FC.
Midfielder Sokhivob gave Police FC the lead in the very second minute of the game before Sk Jamal鈥檚 Uzbekistan defender Shokhrukhbek Kholmatov put the ball into his own net in the ninth minute.
Defender Abdullaev scored the third and final goal for the winners in the 23rd minute.
The 11-time champions Mohammedan confirmed their semi-final berth, beating Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra 2-1 in the first quarter-final at the same venue earlier on April 2.
