
Brazilian forward Dorielton Gomes scored a brace as defending champions Bashundhara Kings beat Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club 2-0 in the return-leg of the Bangladesh Premier League at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the city on Saturday.
In the day’s other two games, Mohammedan Sporting Club were held to a goalless draw by Police Football Club in Mymensingh, while Chittagong Abahani Limited notched up a 5-0 win over Brothers Union in Rajshahi.
In Dhaka, Dorielton gave league leaders Kings the lead in the 18th minute before doubling it in the stoppage time of the first half.
In Rajshahi, Ctg Abahani’s Nigerian forward Seun Paul Komolafe scored a brace in the 32nd and in the stoppage time of the second half.
Defender Nasir Uddin Chowdhury (18th) and midfielder Riaj Uddin Sagor (60th) scored once each, while Nigerian forward Ojukwu David Ifegwu converted a spot kick in the 73rd minute for Ctg Abahani’s fourth win.
In their first leg, Ctg Abahani and Brothers played out a 2-2 draw in Munshiganj.
Kings, who defeated Sk Jamal 3-0 in the first leg, led the 10-team table by seven points following the day’s results, with Mohammedan in second place with 27 points from 13 games.
Mohammedan defeated Police FC 3-2 in the first leg, putting them two points ahead of six-time winners Abahani Limited (25 points) after the 13th round of the league.
Police FC (18 points) and Ctg Abahani (16 points) are fourth and fifth, respectively, with Sk Jamal (15 points) in seventh place and Brothers (three points) at the bottom.
