
Forward Nabib Newaz Jibon slammed a hat-trick as Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society sealed a crushing 6-0 win over Fakirerpool Young Men鈥檚 Club in their Group B match of the Federation Cup at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Tuesday.聽
In the day鈥檚 other match of the group, traditional powerhouse Mohammedan Sporting Club also secured a 6-0 win over Chittagong Abahani in their second match of the tournament at the Kings Arena in the city.聽
In Mymensingh, Rahmatganj went into the break with a 2-0 lead, with forward Meraj Hossain Opi opening the scoresheet in the 12th minute before Jibon scored his first of three in the stoppage time of the first half.聽
Ghanaian forward Samuel Boateng made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute before Jibon completed his hat-trick by scoring in the 56th and 75th minutes, and Fahim Nur Toha completed the goal feast in stoppage time.聽
With the win, Rahmatganj increased their possibility of advancing to the quarter-finals of this 10-team tournament as they were leading the Group B table with six points from two games. Rahmatganj started their campaign with a 1-0 win over Mohammedan.
In Dhaka, Mohammedan鈥檚 Uzbekistani midfielder Muzaffarov (11th), Malian forward Souleymane Diabate (14th), midfielders Arif Hossain (52nd), Razu Ahmed Zisan (69th), and Jwel Mia (80th), and forward Sourav Dewan (77th) scored once each for their team鈥檚 first win in the competition.聽
With the win, Mohammedan were in second place in the group, ahead of Abahani Limited, who defeated Ctg Abahani 3-0 in the lone match they have played so far.聽
