
Ghanaian forward Samuel Boateng became only the second footballer in Bangladesh鈥檚 top-tier football to score six goals in a match as Rahmatganj Muslim Friend Society crushed newcomers Dhaka Wanderers 6-1 in their Bangladesh Premier League match in Munshiganj on Saturday.聽
Samuel matched the previous record of six goals scored by Nigerian forward Nwachukwu Paul Macjames, who scored all those goals in Mohammedan Sporting Club鈥檚 7-1 win over Boateng鈥檚 current side, Rahmatganj, in the first edition of the BPL in April 2007.聽
Samuel scored three goals in either half of the match for his side鈥檚 third consecutive six-goal win, as Rahmatganj earlier beat Fakirerpool Young Men鈥檚 Club 6-0 and 6-1 in their Federation Cup and BPL matches, respectively.聽
Samuel鈥檚 (23rd, 37th, 44th, 63rd, 66th, 70th minutes) hexa also helped Rahmatganj move to the second place of the 10-team points table with 15 points from six outings, just three points behind league leaders Mohammedan.聽
Rahmatganj suffered their only defeat of this BPL campaign when they lost 4-1 to holders and treble winners Bashundhara Kings.
In another match of the day, Mohammedan maintained their all-win run with a 5-1 win over winless Chittagong Abahani at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.聽
Mohammedan were reduced to 10-man in the 22nd minute with defender Shakil Ahad Tapu being sent off with his second yellow card.聽
After a barren first half, Burkina Faso defender Mounzir Coulidiati gave Mohammedan the lead in the 47th minute before Nigerian forward Emmanuel Sunday doubled the margin in the 55th minute.聽
Super-sub forward Sourav Dewan scored a brace (63rd and 90th) while Ctg Abahani conceded an own goal in the 85th minute.聽
Ctg Abahani, who conceded 19 goals in six matches, got their first goal in this season鈥檚 league when their midfielder Imtiaz Sultan Jitu pulled one goal back from the spot kick in the stoppage time of the game.聽
