Fortis Football Club suffered their first defeat of the Federation Cup when they lost to Brothers Union 1-0 in their final Group A match at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Tuesday.

In the day鈥檚 other match of the same group, Police Football Club earned a 2-1 comeback win over Dhaka Wanderers Club at the Kings Arena in the city.聽


In Mymensingh, midfielder Kawsar Ali Rabbi scored the all-important goal in the 36th minute with a shot from inside the box after receiving a cross from forward Sazzad Hossain.

Despite the loss, Fortis remained on top of the five-team group table with seven points from four games but were still at risk of being eliminated, as the top two teams will move to the second round.

On the other hand, having played three matches, both Bashundhara Kings and Brothers have six points with one match left for each, against eliminated Wanderers and Police, who too have chances to advance with four points from three matches.聽

In Dhaka, defender Md Emon gave Wanderers the lead by converting a spot kick in the 42nd minute and held their nerves until forward Mannaf Rabby found the equaliser in the 84th minute for Police FC.

Forward Esanur Rahman kept Police FC鈥檚 second-round hopes alive by scoring the match winner four minutes from the stipulated time.
