In the day鈥檚 other match, defending champions Bashundhara Kings played were held to a 1 -1 draw against Fortis Football Club at the Kings Arena in the city.
In Munshiganj, after a barren first-half, defender Sakil Hossain scored the match winner in the 68th minute to give six-time champions Abahani their sixth win in eight games.聽
Abahani played a goalless draw against Forties Football Club and conceded a 1-0 loss to league leaders Mohammedan Sporting Club in their other games of the 10-team double-leg format competition.聽
With the day鈥檚 win, the Sky Blues have 19 points and will complete their first-leg campaign with the match against fifth-placed Brothers Union on January 25, a day after league leaders Mohammedan play newcomers Fakirerpool Young Men鈥檚 Club.聽
Abahani are currently five points behind Mohammedan, who will end the first-leg on top with a maximum of 24 points from eight games, while Rahmatganj are in third place with 15 points from the same number of outings.聽
In Dhaka, Kings veteran defender Topu Barman gave his team the lead in the 11th minute before Fortis midfielder Md Abdullah restored the parity in the 63rd minute.聽
With the stalemate, Kings remained in fourth place with 14 points from eight games.聽
