
A Bangladeshi youth was injured after the Indian Border Security Force opened fire on him on Friday.
The BSF alleged that the youth had crossed into India near Itna of Monionda union under Akhaura upazila in Brahmanbaria district.
Asadul Islam, 28, a resident of Itna village in Monianda union of Akhaura, received bullet injuries in the BSF firing at about 11:30am on Friday, according to Border Guard Bangladesh officials.
Asadul’s younger brother Sahadullah told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that his brother had gone to cut grass for cows in the morning and BSF personnel opened fire that hit his eye and face.
He claimed that his brother was a truck driver by profession.
Akhaura upazila nirbahi officer GM Rashedul Islam said that Asadul was admitted to the Brahmanbaria General Hospital for a better treatment.
Quoting local people, the UNO said that the youth had crossed the border and entered the Indian territory.
‘BSF members fired on the youth when they noticed him. The youth received bullet injuries,’ the UNO added.
He said that the BGB could tell exactly why he had crossed the border and entered India.
BGB 60 Battalion commanding officer lieutenant colonel Ziaur Rahman could not be reached over phone for comments and he did not respond to text messages.
