
Cultural organisation Chhayanaut will pay tribute to national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam organising a three-day festival at its auditorium in Dhanmondi, Dhaka from May 24 to 26.
Chhayanaut general secretary Laisa Ahmed Lisa made the announcement at a press conference held at Chhayanaut auditorium on Tuesday.
She read a written statement at the press conference and invited all to attend the festival.
‘Chhayanaut is going to organise a three-day festival marking the 125th birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam to pay tribute to the national poet,’ said Lisa.
‘The three-day festival will feature solo and group songs, dance recitals and recitations,’ said Lisa, adding that invited artistes and Chhayanaut artistes will perform at the festival.
The festival will begin on Friday at 6:30pm while the second and third day of the festival will begin at 7:00pm.
‘Around 160 artistes including 30 invited artistes will perform at the three-day festival,’ said Lisa.
Marking the 125th birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam, Chhayanaut will launch a book titled ‘Nazrul Sangeet: Tatya, Bhab o Surshandhan’ on the closing day of the festival on Sunday.
The book, edited by Mofidul Hoque, will comprise writings on 50 songs of Nazrul.
