Publishers under the banner of Srijonshil Prokashak Samity on Saturday at a rally in front of the National Press Club demanded a 50 per cent reduction in stall rent at forthcoming Ekushey Book Fair.
They also called for banning pavilions from the fair, publishing a white paper highlighting corruption in the publishing sector by the collaborators of the former fascist government.
Protesting at the price hike of paper, they also demanded a reduction in paper prices and imposing a ban on those writers and publishers who collaborated with the fascist government.
Presided over by Saeed Bari, president of Srijonshil Prokashak Samity, the event was addressed, among others, by publishers Delower Hossian, Helal Uddin, and Shihab Bahadur.
They also said that the collaborators of the fascist government were still at work in different government organisations and were conspiring against the student-led mass uprising. Â
‘We demand proper investigation into Mujib Barsha and justice for those who have looted money of the people,’ said Saeed Bari. Â
