Business leader and entrepreneur Sharif Zahir has been unanimously elected the chairman of United Commercial Bank PLC during the board meeting held on Thursday at the corporate office of UCB.
Additionally, young industrial entrepreneur Md Tanvir Khan has been elected the executive committee chairman of the Bank, said a press release.
Besides, Md Shazzad Hossoin has been elected the vice-chairman of the Bank, and Md Yusuf Ali has been appointed as the chairman of the Risk Management Committee.
In addition, Obaidur Rahman FCA has been elected as the chairman of the Audit Committee of the Bank, the release said.
Sharif Zahir, the newly elected chairman of UCB, is a pioneer in fostering corporate governance in the business and industry sectors.
He has been honoured with the prestigious Commercially Important Person award.
He holds a BSc degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Texas, Austin, US.

As a dedicated philanthropist, he is associated with JK Memorial Hospital, an 80-bed non-profit hospital in Chattogram.
He is a member of the executive committee of Chattogram Samity-Dhaka, Savar Golf Club, Dhaka Boat Club, BGMEA Apparel Club, and Gulshan Club.
