A collaborative programme between Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and the World Health Organization held at the department of public health and informatics at BSMMU on Sunday.

WHO representative in Bangladesh Bardan Jung Rana was the chief guest at the event, with BSMMU鈥檚 vice-chancellor professor Deen Mohd Noorul Huq in chair, said a press release.


The primary focus of the meeting was to discuss how the collaboration between BSMMU鈥檚 public health and informatics department and WHO can foster improvements in medical services, education, research, and development.

Professor Noorul Huq expressed optimism about the collaboration. He said that with WHO鈥檚 support, BSMMU鈥檚 development and progress would be accelerated significantly.

He highlighted the establishment of WHO cost centre, aiming to conduct world-class research activities in collaboration with the organisation.

BSMMU鈥檚 pro-vice-chancellor (academic) professor Mohammed Atiqur Rahman, registrar professor ABM Abdul Hannan, proctor professor Md Habibur Rahman, preventive and social medicine faculty dean and chairman of the public health and informatics department professor Md Atiqul Haque, professor Md Mostafa Zaman, executive director, BSMMU journal and associate professor Fariha Hasin, associate professor Bijoy Kumar Pal, assistant professor Md Maruf Haque Khan, assistant professor Md Russell Ahmed, lecturer Md Hasan and others were present.
