A special seminar on the globally concerning HMPV was held at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in Dhaka on Thursday.

The seminar, titled ‘Emerging Trends of Human Metapneumovirus-HMPV: A New Threat to Bangladesh?’, was inaugurated by BSMMU vice-chancellor professor Md Shahinul Alam, said a press release.


BSMMU’s pro-vice-chancellor professor Md Mujibur Rahman Hawlader (research and development) was special guest. The event was chaired by pro-VC (administration), professor Md Abul Kalam Azad, and conducted by assistant professor Khaled Mahbub Morshed Mamun.

Presentations and discussions were led by professor Sohel Mahmud Arafat of internal medicine department, and professor Saif Ullah Munshi of virology department, who is also the director of the Super Specialised Hospital and dean of the university. Professor Md A Mannan, chair of the department of neonatology, also spoke.
