Hassan Abidur Reja Jewel

Renowned singer Hassan Abidur Reja Jewel was remembered on Saturday at a commemorative programme held at the Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Samity in the capital.

Organised by Jewel鈥檚 close friends, the programme titled Sediner Ek Bickel comprises songs, poem recitation, documentary films and memoir of Jewel鈥檚 musical career and contributions to the music industry while the event aimed to preserve his memory for future generations, said a press release.聽


Along with Jewel鈥檚 close friends, vocalist Naqeeb Khan, lyricist Zulfikar Russell, musician Bappa Majumder, cultural activist Shankar Saojal, and recitation artiste Shimul Mustafa participated in the event.

Bappa Majumder performed some of Jewel鈥檚 most favourite songs, while Shimul Mustafa recited poetry.

Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel, a popular Bangladeshi singer, passed away on July 30 at a hospital in the capital after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Jewel鈥檚 contributions to Bengali music are remarkable, with ten solo albums and over fifty joint albums to his name.

Jewel was also a successful television programme maker, renowned event organiser, film and commercial production maker. Besides, Jewel was passionate about photography and travelling.
