To mark the 134th death anniversary of Fakir Lalon Shah a three-day Lalon Smaranotshab began at National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Thursday.

The commemorative programme was inaugurated by the social welfare adviser to Bangladesh's interim government, Sharmeen Murshid.


The event includes discussions, seminars and musical performances.

On the opening day newly appointed fine arts department’s director of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy poet-artist Mustafa Zaman delivered the welcome speech and the DG of BSA Syed Jamil Ahmed chaired the inaugural ceremony.

‘Shilpakala should work to reach the people of the country. We have to build our nation with the bravery which inspired our hundreds of children to embrace martrydom,’ said Sharmeen Murshid.

On the opening day, singer Arup Rahee and Johura Fakirani performed in a musical and spiritual discussion event titled Asha Shindhu Tirey.

Today, the festival comprises a musical performance of 55 renowned and promising baul and folk singers of the country at Nandan Mancha of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at 6:00pm.

On the closing day, the interim government’s adviser to cultural affairs Asif Nazrul will be present as chief guest.
