
Ekushey Padak-winning folk artiste Sushma Dash died at her home of Hawlader Para in Sylhet on Wednesday.
She was 95. Sue is survived by her four sons, one daughter.
The artiste family members said that she had been suffering from age-related complications for several months.
Sushama fell seriously ill on March 13 and her condition deteriorated further, they added.
Her funeral ritual was held at the crematory of her ancestral village of Sulla in Sunamganj on Wednesday night.
Born at Chapua village of Sulla in Sunamganj in 1929, Sushama performed a numer of programmes together with legendry folk bards Shah Abdul Karim, Durbin Shah and Ali Hossain Sarker.
Sushma Das played a vital rule in collecting folk songs. Whenever she heard any new and attractive songs have sung by any boatman, farmer, fisherman in society, she collected those songs.
She collected songs of about four hundred folk poets and singers.
For her contribution to music in the country, she was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2017.
