The National Sports Council approved the ad hoc committees of the Bangladesh Cycling Federation and the Bangladesh Handball Federation, abolishing the prior committees, according to a circular issued on Wednesday.

Saiful Islam, a businessman, was named president of the Cycling Federation, and Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal, a government official, was named general secretary.

Maj Gen Sarwar Farid was named as the Handball Federation president, while a former national player and businessman, Salahuddin Ahmed, was named as general secretary.

The Cycling and Handball Federation ad-hoc committees each had 19 members, including a president, two vice-presidents, one general secretary, one joint secretary, one treasurer, and 13 other members.

However, the circulars made no mention of when the tenures of these ad hoc committees, which were largely made up of former sportsmen, corporate figures, service holders, and lawyers, would terminate.

The NSC earlier, in two steps, approved 16 sports federations’ ad-hoc committees removing the previous committees.
