With the natural flow of colour blending western abstract expressions and oriental style, Impressionist painter Rezaun Nabi has portrayed the beautiful nature of the country in his recent solo art exhibition which is underway at Gallery Chitrak of Dhanmondi in the capital.

The exhibition titled Blissful Tone features his 69 paintings.

Most of the paintings were created with acrylic on canvas between 2019 and 2024.

A series of four soft pastels on paper artworks titled Silence is also on display in the exhibition.

Having studied at the faculty of fine arts at Dhaka University, artist Rezaun Nabi has been painting for almost forty years and during this time, he has exhibited his artworks in many solo and group art exhibitions in Bangladesh and abroad.

His recent artwork portrays landscapes of different seasons with boats, nets, fish, birds, sky, cloud, trees, crop fields and rivers in abstraction. With organic forms, flow and essence Reza brings the entire abstract subject into a natural environment.

‘I like to draw the landscape, especially the horizontal line with skies and land into deep observation, not realistically. Different times, seasons and weather I try to express the impression of nature without even perspective. Most of the works were created during the pandemic,’ said Rezaun Nabi who organised his last solo in Bangladesh in 2016.

Thespian and former cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the exhibition on July 13, while renowned painter Mohammad Eunus was present at the ceremony as special guests. The Ekushey Padak-winning artist Rafiqun Nabi presided over the ceremony.

The sixteen-day exhibition will end on July 28.
