
Doel Academy, a cultural organisation founded by Bangladeshi expatriates in Greece, performed traditional Bangladeshi songs and dances at the 13th Folklore Festival in Greece on Monday.
The performance, presented in Bangla, highlighted Bangladesh鈥檚 cultural heritage and the significance of February as the month of language, said a release.
The Bangladesh ambassador to Greece, Nahida Rahman Shumona Iqbal, spoke of the importance of Athens as a city of culture and the roots of Bangladeshi culture.
She highlighted similarities between Greek and Bangla, both of which have a rich history.
The mayor of the municipality of Holgaris was present.
Doel Academy, established 25 years ago, aims to teach young children of the Bangladeshi community in Athens their language, culture, and values.
