Renowned and aspiring artists have displayed artworks in an art exhibition titled Seeking Peace and Harmony under way at the Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts at North Badda in the capital.

The 10th edition of the Oriental Art exhibition has been jointly organised by the Oriental Painting Study Group and Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts.


Governor board member of the Society for Promotion of Bangladesh Art, Anis A Khan, internationally renowned artists Monirul Islam, Samar Majumder and Dhaka University faculty of fine art dean Azharul Islam Sheikh, among others, were present as special guests at the inaugural ceremony on January 18.

The AGFA chairperson Nilu Rowshan Murshed presided over the ceremony.  

Young artists and students of different educational institutions across the country submitted their artworks through an open call. Patron of the OPSG Mikhail Idris Islam, Professor Malay Bala and Amit Nandi selected the displayed artworks in the exhibition. 

On the inaugural ceremony, artist Md Nazmul Haque Bappy received 10th Oriental Grand Award for his acrylic on canvas artwork titled Silence of Nature while Showrab Gosh won the Oriental Excellence Award for his watercolour artwork titled A Waiting for Consciousness and Shahanoor Mamun awarded the 10th Oriental Award for his watercolour titled Female Lover.

Artist Hasura Akther Rumky and Md Badsha Harun Nur Rashid received the OPSG Award.        

The is displaying 70 artworks of 54 artists created using different mediums, including tempera, Chinese ink, acrylic, watercolour and print.

The exhibition is also displaying artworks by renowned artists, including Abdus Satter, Abdus Shakoor Shah, Hamiduzzaman Khan, Malay Bala, Afrozaa Jamil Konka, Amit Nandi, Atifa Asrafi Anonna, Tiger Nazir and Zahangir Alom.

The 13-day exhibition will end on January 30.
