The Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi on Monday condemned Sunday’s demolition of a part of a liberation war mural in Lalmonirhat.

The organisation demanded an impartial investigation over the issue and repairing the mural for reestablishing there, said a press release issued by the organisation.

The press release said that the 140-feet mural at the Liberation War Memorial Stage adjacent to the Children’s Park on BDR Road in Lalmonirhat depicted key events, including the context of the 1952 Language Movement, the historic March 7 speech, the Liberation War, the formation of the Mujibnagar government, the genocide of 1971, the victorious freedom fighters celebrating the victory, the surrender of the Pakistani forces, and people rejoicing with the country’s national flag.

Earlier, on the occasion of Independence Day and National Day on March 26, the district administration covered the mural with cloth, claiming that the mural did match with the spirit of the 2024 July uprising.
