
Main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general MirzaFakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday said that the Awami League government had failed to get the fair water share of the common rivers flowing between Bangladesh and India.
He said that the ruling Awami League adopted ambiguous foreign policy and the Indian government was dominating the Bangladesh government.
He was speaking at a discussion at the National Press Club to mark International Farakka Long March Day organised by BhashaniOnusariParishadchaired by its convener Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu to mark the 48th anniversary of FarakkaLong March.
MirzaFakhrul called on the opposition political parties to wage movement for the restoration of democratic rule in the country.

The historic 48th Farakka Long March Day was observed on Thursday in the country.
On May 16, 1976, Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani led a long march from Rajshahi towards the Farakka Barrage, demanding its demolition. Thousands of people participated in the demonstration.
The then Indian government constructed the Farakka Barrage across the River Ganges in the Indian state of West Bengal to divert the river waters into its territory.

Bangladesh should raise a strong voice to assert her demand and take steps to ensure natural flow of rivers and protect the riverine environment, they said.
National Awami Party (Bhashani) held a discussion meeting at ShishuKalyanParishad auditorium where its president Shapon Kumar Saha chaired.
Politician MoazzemHossain Khan Majlis, SelinaKhatun and others spoke at the discussion.
Path MaulanaBhashani also held a rally in front of the National Press Club where politicians ShamsuzzamanMilon, Fayez Hossain, Syed Harun-or-Rashid, Abdul GofurMian, Rafiqul Islam Pathik and others spoke.
Abdul Hamid Khan BhashaniParishad also organised a rally in front of the National Museum at Shahbaghchaired by its president AkmalHossain.
