
Leaders of Gono Odhikar Parishad on Friday at a protest rally in Dhaka said that imposition of United States sanctions against former chief of army staff Aziz Ahmed and his family members tarnished the image of the Bangladesh Army and the country as well.
Dhaka city north unit of the party organised the rally in front of the National Press Club where its president Mizanur Rahman chaired.
President of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, Nurul Haque Nur, said that the Awami League government had failed to introduce good governance in the country and they were involved in mass corruption.
When the United States government imposed sanctions on former chief of army staff Aziz and his family members, it tarnished the image of the army and also Bangladesh.
General secretary of the party, Mohammad Rashed Khan, said that the Awami League government failed to control syndicates who were responsible for abnormal price hikes of essential commodities.
Central leaders of the party, Abu Hanif, Shakil Uzzaman, Nur-e-Ershad Siddiqui, Hasan Al Mamun, Biplob Podder and others spoke at the rally.
The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
