A Bangladesh Chhatra League activist was shot to death by opponents during the joyous procession of the winning candidate in Brahmanbaria sadar upazila election.聽
The incident took place in front of Khan Tower in College Para area of 鈥嬧�媡he district town at about 6:30pm.
The deceased, Ayash Rahman Ejaz, 23, son of Amin Mia, was a resident of the College Para area.
Brahmanbaria sadar police officer-in-charge Aslam Hossain confirmed that the youth was killed.
Locals said that upazila chairman candidate Shahadat Hossain Sobhan, general secretary of district Chhatra League unit, was declared winner at the Mission Primary School polling center and his supporters took out a victory procession in the evening.
When the procession came in front of Khan Tower, Chhatra League activist and student of Brahmanbaria Government College Ayash Rahman Ejaz was shot in the head by the rivals, they said.聽
He was rushed to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital and the doctors referred him to Dhaka. He died on the way to the capital city.
