The ruling Awami League has announced a half-day strike, demanding withdrawal of officer-in-charge of Atgharia police sation in Pabna.
Atgharia upazila Awami League president and municipal mayor Shahidul Islam Ratan on Sunday called the half-day strike for Wednesday from the Atgharia upazila Awami League office.聽
A protest rally was also held and AL activists blocked the Pabna-Chatmohar road and burnt tyres.聽
At the rally, Shahidul said, 鈥楢tgharia police station OC Hadiul Islam moves about with miscreants. With his direct help, some miscreants are doing whatever they like in Atgharia. He doesn鈥檛 want to take a case if he doesn鈥檛 like it. Along with the OC, the miscreants move around with weapons.鈥�
General secretary of upazila Awami League and former UP chairman Mohaimin Hossain and newly elected upazila chairman Tanveer Islam Chanchal also spoke at the rally.聽
Asked, OC Hadiul Islam said, 鈥楳y withdrawal may be their political issue. I do not know anything about the allegations against me.鈥�
